I wanted to freely experiment and do what I find is fun and cool… I want to show my true self to everyone through Lil Moshpit. Lil Moshpit True to his moniker, Lil Moshpit is in a state of fury and his burning desire to prove himself in a relentless industry and to pave the way for Korean hip hop becomes the gasoline for “AAA”. Organized chaos, “AAA” twist and turn between moods and genres, fusing sonics like hip-hop, drum and bass and rock to detail angst, hype and pride. High-energy, bass heavy numbers like ‘BO$$’ and ‘Gotta Lotta Shit’ serve as come-up anthems, or what Lil Moshpit describes as “mosh-pit club music.” Released just in time for summer, “AAA” is meant to be experienced in the flesh at concerts and festivals. “AAA” is loud, head-banging music that gets people going, moshing… It’s not so much about what’s being said, but the rhythm and emotions that are being evoked. Lil Moshpit With a finger on the pulse, Lil Moshpit taps in exciting, global groundbreakers, from local scenesters like sokodomo, Sik-K, Reddy, Kid Milli and Swervy to international names like A$AP Ant and Strick. Each feature stands out in its own way, each bringing its own style. “They’re all special in their own way,” Lil Moshpit said, adding that the collaborations came from an organic place of trust and perfect timing. For instance, while the track “A-Team Freestyle” was demoed in 2019 with American rappers A$AP Ant and Strick, who Lil Moshpit connected with at Electric Daisy Carnival Las Vegas, it wasn’t after the beat was featured on the popular Korean music show, “Show Me The Money”, that the track had a resurgence. I held back from releasing it originally because I was having a lot of self-skepticism about music at the time… I finally felt like it was the right time while working on “AAA”. I wanted to keep the original essence of the track, so I decided not to rearrange anything. Lil Moshpit It is the posse cuts, like ‘A-Team Freestyle’ and ‘Back In My AREA,’ that stands out. While the first defies language and location to unite hip-hop heads, the latter pays homage to Korea’s relatively new, yet burgeoning rap scene. At the forefront of this scene is HwiMin, who through both Lil Moshpit and GroovyRoom (the all-star producer act he shares with Park GyuJeong) is one of the genre’s biggest Korean champions. Last year, he established the label AREA along with Park to support emerging talents, including female rapper Mirani, who makes an appearance on “AAA”, and R&B singer GEMINI. This step came naturally after years as Korea’s most sought after hitmakers. HwiMin has been credited for chart-topping singles, including ‘iffy’ and ‘VVS’, with the latter holding the #1 spot for six consecutive weeks on local streaming platforms. An all-around trendsetter, his creative influence has been featured locally on GQ, Dazed, Billboard, and W Mag, to name a few, and his unique flair has landed him collaborations with brands like Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Calvin Klein, Heron Preston and AMBUSH and in the front row of fashion weeks. While his sound, personality and style speaks volume, it is via Lil Moshpit that HwiMin finds himself at his loudest. GOT7’s Jay B And His Love For Cross Bags KPOP STORIES|Feb 9, 2022
